AMERICA’s Kick-Ass Band (KAB) is an American Rock Band out of Phoenix, Arizona that formed in 2012. While KAB has a line up of veteran musicians with a variety of influences, their sound has been honed into a distinctly traditional rock and roll/rockabilly sound that has captured the hearts of passionate fans from Phoenix to Fargo!
The influences of country greats like Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash to the rockabilly and punk sounds of Social Distortion and Ramones, can be heard in the aggressive guitar sounds and melodic sing-along chorus of KAB.
Boasting two exceptional guitar players with southern influences, Eric Jones and Scott LeComte, KAB’s sound has been described as “edgy rock with a twang”. KAB’s music has also been described as “Rockabully” (aggressive, guitar driven rockabilly).
KAB’s rhythm section of drummer Pat Redl and bassist Jon Ruterman hold down a powerful, driving foundation to every tune, not unlike the ones you would find on a Johnny Cash or a Social Distortion record, making KAB tunes a fast two step, head bobbing staple for fans everywhere.
While musically, KAB is high energy, in-your-face aggressive, Mark Moffatt’s (singer/songwriter) lyrics are painfully honest and full of the struggles that life can bring any of us. Songs such as “Tell Me Why”, “Worse Than You Know”, “Addicted” and “Out of Luck” have titles alone that speak volumes about the lyrical content of KAB’s debut record, “The Highs, The Lows and the Songs of Rock and Roll.” Oddly, even within these painful lyrics, the music of KAB leaves you with an upbeat, hopeful feeling, making their music artistically their own and a prized possession of their fan base.
The full-length record will be released in the fall of 2016, but KAB has released a 5 song EP “Genuine” (June 2016), including the fan favorite “Deal Man” to whet the appetite for the full length record. Available on iTunes through PICKLED AMERICAN SUMMER RECORDS.
KAB is available for bars/taverns, inside/outside events, and private parties. Contact KAB
